Can't Get Enough...

Of this piece to use as a vanity in our master bath. (Restoration Hardware did a great job with this piece, but we all know it is pretty much against my religion to buy a NEW piece of furniture, so...the hunt continues.)

Of thoughts of cooler weather.
Of a hand made Christmas project I'm working on for the shop! You'll just have to wait and see. :)

Of menu planning for the Grand Opening celebration of petite surprise on November 4th.

Of kisses from katie (and this absolutely precious photo!).

Give - please, whether its $5 or $50,000, just give.

That's all for now. Have a happy weekend. :)

All Things Hand Made Part 2

The second set of handmade products I am honored to bring to you are these adorable dresses for little girls!

They are made from embroidered pillow cases - what a great idea! The pillow cases are hard to come by, so if you find one - snatch it up and make your own. Otherwise, drop in to petite surprise before your next baby shower for a one-of-a-kind gift.

Sizes range from 6 to 18 months.

The lady I found these from also makes these great (and soft!) stuffed animals and bibs from vintage chenille coverlets.

They are just so stinkin' cute. All of them.

Mark Your Calendars

The preparations have begun.

The date has been set.

The anticipation is building.

And YOU are invited!

Mark you calendars for the evening of Thursday, November 4th. petite surprise will be hosting its (long over-due) official Grand Opening. We'll be celebrating with wine and desserts, so grab a friend and join us for a fun-filled evening of shopping and mingling. Boys - you're invited too!

Oh, and mention this post to receive 20% off any single item! Can't wait to meet you! :)

All Things Hand Made Part 1

There's just something about a product that has been designed, crafted and completed with passion and care by the hands of an individual. As often as I can, I like to purchase hand-made products. Each item is unique, and we all know how much I love that. :)

While traveling for the past month, I kept my eye out for hand-made products that fit with the style at petite surprise. Lucky me (and you!), I found 4 different products, all hand-made, that I am thrilled to feature in my shop. All items are of smaller size, so they can easily be shipped wherever you reside on our lovely planet. Every featured item can be purchased at www.petitesurprise.com.

Hope you enjoy these petite surprises as much as I have!

(drum roll please)

ITEM #1: The perfect basket-tote-classy-storage-carryall-thingy-majig. Yes, that's right - you heard me.

Ok, so I'm not quite sure how to classify these amazing...things...but I'm in looooveee with them. They are gorgeous, super high quality, will last a lifetime, timeless yet modern, and best of all - extremely functional.

- Set it next to a couch with throw blankets in it
- Use it to throw the kids' toys in
- Keep magazines within easy reach
- Tote it all the way to the beach
- Use for a durable travel bag
- The functionality is endless!

I also have 1 pair of stripey pillow cases. Do these say coastal living, or what?

Oh, and the best part? These products are hand-spun, hand-dyed and hand-woven by self-help groups in India. The purchase of these products is creating income and growth opportunities for these struggling families and YOU can be a part of it (and you get a really cool bag too!).

X Benches

Seems like these things are popping up everywhere in magazines and blogs, but for clearly great reasons. They're great in every room, can be upholstered to complement any decor, and are stylish and functional.

At the foot of a bed, as a coffee table in a living room, extra seating in the great room, or even as an accessory in an entry way, x benches are versatile little things.

What would you say if I told you I had a pair of these?? With prices ranging up to $1200 for 1, you better hurry in and see the pair I have for $225!

Be Brave.

Here's a bit of unusual color for you. Brings me back to my Clemson days...
I kinda like this purple dining room. Saturated color, but yet the room feels fresh and bright. Would you ever go for it??

Can't get Enough...

Of this statement mirror. I'll have to try this one day...

Of this DIY headboard.

Of the simplistic awesomeness of this hotel lobby lounge.

Of my new purse!
Of our new fish-tank-cozy-loungey room. Here's a sneak peek. More to come this week.

Sorry I've Been MIA.

When it rains, it pours. Well actually, it showers. Bridal showers to be exact. (Lame joke, I know.)

I must be at that age or something, but I've gotten more invitations this summer than I think I have in my whole life combined. I'll be heading to my 3rd bridal shower this weekend - 3rd in a row, might I add. (Although I'm super excited Julie!!) Not to mention bachlorette parties, bridal luncheons and the weddings themselves - this makes for a busy couple of months!

You can't beat a wedding though - cheers to love, friends and families gathering together, and a fabulous party to celebrate!

House Plants

With this room as my inspiration, I'm on the hunt for some great house plants. I really, really love these fiddle leaf figs shown below. I've searched everywhere around town but can only find them on-line. Does anyone know a local shop that has these?

A great tree can really make a statement in a lonely corner...
